(rel/syn دادخواهي – شكايت – دعوي ) 1: go, ~ing to law; complain, ~ing, ~t; 2: seek, ~ing justice 3: grievance 4: action; suit (: A generic term, of comprehensive signification, referring to any proceeding by one person or persons against another or others in a court of law in which the plaintiff pursues, in such court, the remedy which the law affords him for the redress of an injury or the enforcement of a right, whether at law or in equity. It is, however, seldom applied to a criminal prosecution. And it was formerly sometimes restricted to the designation of a proceeding in equity, to distinguish such proceeding from an action at law. Term “suit” has generally been replaced by term “action”; which includes both actions at law and in equity. HCB)
